Data Deletion

Last updated: June 3, 2026

This page describes how to delete your Soky account, what happens to your data when you do, and what we retain for legal compliance.

Two ways to delete your account

1. In-app (recommended)

  1. Sign in to soky.me.
  2. Open Account from the user menu in the top right.
  3. Scroll to the Danger zone at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click Delete account, type your username to confirm, and click Delete forever.

Deletion is immediate. You'll be signed out and redirected to the home page.

2. By email

If you can't sign in (for example, you've lost access to the email you signed up with), send a deletion request from any email address to support@avaqilabs.com with the subject line "Delete my Soky account". Include:

  • The email address associated with your Soky account
  • Any usernames you used on Soky (e.g. @yourhandle)
  • Any context that helps us identify the account (so we don't delete the wrong one)

We process email deletion requests within 30 days. We may ask follow-up questions to verify the request is genuine before deleting anything.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following are removed immediately:

  • All your usernames and profile pages
  • Your posts, links, collections, and feed-builder content
  • Uploaded files — avatars, page images, background images
  • Your subscribers, followers, and tip history
  • Votes, polls, and other interaction data tied to you
  • Any active subscription is cancelled immediately (no refund is issued for the remainder of the period)

What gets retained

We retain a limited set of records after deletion to comply with legal obligations. This is explicitly permitted under GDPR Article 17(3)(b) (compliance with legal obligation) and CCPA §1798.105(d), and is described in our Privacy Policy:

  • Billing records — invoices, transaction history, payment receipts, and billing addresses are retained for up to 10 years from the date of transaction to comply with US and EU tax law and accounting standards. Card numbers are never stored on our servers; they live with our payment processor (Stripe).
  • Aggregate / anonymised analytics — usage statistics that no longer identify you may be retained indefinitely for product improvement.
  • Backup snapshots — residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for the duration of our normal backup retention window (currently 30 days) before being overwritten. We do not restore deleted data from backups except where required for security, disaster recovery, or legal compliance.

If you connected a Facebook, Instagram, or Threads account

Soky uses public embed URLs from Meta to display posts you've added to your profile. We don't store an authentication token tied to your Meta account, so there's nothing to disconnect on Meta's side when you delete your Soky account — the embedded posts simply stop being displayed because the Soky page hosting them is gone.

If you'd like Meta to delete data they hold about you, you'll need to make that request to Meta directly via their Facebook data deletion form — that's outside Soky's control.

Re-signing up

Account deletion only removes your data from Soky. Your authentication record with our identity provider (AWS Cognito) is left intact so you can sign back up with the same email address later if you change your mind. You'll start with a clean account — no posts, no subscribers, no plan.
